Julie McDowell leads GB strategic energy planning for Equinor, focusing on how power systems and policy frameworks enable large‑scale decarbonisation. Based in Trondheim, Norway, she brings experience across power transmission and grid development in the US, UK, and Europe.

Her work has spanned gigawatt‑scale offshore wind projects, including securing offtake arrangements and exploring integration with green hydrogen. In her current role, Julie is Equinor’s subject‑matter authority on Great Britain’s Strategic Energy Plans, supporting decision‑making across the company’s generation portfolio—from offshore wind to thermal power.

Julie joined Equinor US in 2022 as a power transmission analyst and has since moved to Norway to support Equinor on power grid policies and regulations in Britain and beyond. She has a background in geospatial analysis in the power & telecom sectors and holds an advanced degree in natural resource management. She is passionate about solving the net-zero puzzle.
